Compounded semaglutide is the other option. It works on GLP-1 alone. Both go after your hunger, and hunger is why weight hangs on.

Why weight hangs on.

If this were just willpower, you'd have won already.

About 4 in 10 U.S. adults have obesity, and the rate peaks between ages 40 and 59. That's not 4 in 10 people short on grit. Your gut and brain run your hunger, and they don't take orders.

The cost runs past your waistline too. Extra fat can pull your testosterone down.

So these medications don't ask you to out-muscle hunger. They work on the signal itself.

How these medications work.

That signal starts after you eat. Your gut releases hormones that tell your brain you're full. These medications act on the receptors those hormones plug into.

  • GLP-1 and GIP

The two gut hormones in play. GLP-1 regulates how hungry you get and how much you eat. GIP may add to that effect.

  • Tirzepatide

Activates both receptors, GLP-1 and GIP. You take in fewer calories, most likely because your appetite drops. It also slows how fast food leaves your stomach.

  • Semaglutide

Activates one receptor, GLP-1. It slows your stomach, helps you feel full sooner and cuts your appetite.

What compounded means.

You'll see one word on both options: compounded. Know what it means before you book.

Compounding is how a pharmacy makes a medication for one person. A licensed pharmacist combines, mixes or alters ingredients to fit one patient's needs.

A brand-name drug works the other way. A drug company makes it in bulk, in set doses, for everyone.

Compounding usually starts with a prescription written for you. That's how the tirzepatide and semaglutide here work: a licensed pharmacy prepares them from your prescription.

A compounded drug isn't a generic, and it isn't the same as a brand-name drug. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

What to expect.

The medication works on your hunger. You still do the rest. It works alongside diet and activity, not instead of them.

Then track the right thing. Inches often go before pounds, so measure your chest, belly and waist every month. The scale won't tell the whole story.

Give it time. Modest goals take two months or more. Big goals take three or more.

You won't do that alone. Your provider checks in monthly and adjusts as you go.

How it works.

You have a goal. Three steps from here.

  1. Book your consultation.

Book with a Bound Medical provider. A short intake form follows.

  2. Meet your provider.

Your provider reviews your history on a telehealth visit. If treatment fits, you get a personalized plan.

  3. Stay dialed in.

Your provider checks in each month and adjusts your plan.

What medication costs.

You pay for medication separately. Partner pharmacies set their own prices, and you pay the pharmacy directly.

Starting at $85 is the price for the lowest dose, picked up at a Fort Worth pharmacy. Higher doses cost more, up to $190. Delivery is $25.

You can also fill a prescription at a local pharmacy.

Weight loss questions.

What's a GLP-1?

Your gut releases this hormone when you eat. It helps regulate appetite and how much you eat. Tirzepatide and semaglutide both act on its receptor.

What's the difference between tirzepatide and semaglutide?

Semaglutide acts on one receptor, GLP-1. Tirzepatide acts on two, GLP-1 and GIP.

Is compounded tirzepatide the same as the brand-name drug?

No. A licensed pharmacy prepares it for you. It isn't a generic, and it isn't the same as a brand-name drug.

Who qualifies?

It depends on your BMI, your history and your overall health. Your provider makes that call at your consultation.

Can I take it with other health conditions?

Maybe. Your provider reviews your history first.

How much will I lose?

Results vary, and nobody can promise you a number. Stick to the plan and track your inches as well as your weight.

Who provides my care?

Independent licensed clinicians at Bound Medical provide all care. Longevity Logic doesn't diagnose, treat or sell medication. Your clinician decides what fits.

Does insurance cover my consultation?

No. Consultations are out of pocket. HSA and FSA cards work, and a couple of pharmacies take them too.

Is a prescription or a result guaranteed?

No. Payment doesn't guarantee a prescription or treatment.

Stop fighting your hunger alone.
